What is QR Code Studio?
QR Code Studio generates QR codes from text and decodes QR codes from images, all on-device without requiring camera access or network connectivity. QR codes are a convenient way to share URLs, Wi-Fi credentials, contact information, and configuration strings between devices.
The tool uses Appleβs CoreImage framework for generation and Vision framework for decoding, delivering native performance without third-party dependencies. Since everything runs locally, your data stays private β no text you encode or images you decode are sent anywhere.
How to Use QR Code Studio
In Encode mode, type or paste any text β a URL, Wi-Fi configuration string, or any other data β and the tool instantly renders a QR code image. Share the generated image via the share sheet or save it to your photo library.
In Decode mode, select an image containing a QR code from your photos, files, or screenshots. The tool scans the image and extracts the encoded text, which you can copy to your clipboard or open directly if it contains a URL.
Common Use Cases
- Sharing URLs: Quickly generate a QR code for a URL to share it with someone nearby, without texting or emailing the link.
- Wi-Fi credentials: Encode Wi-Fi network names and passwords as QR codes so guests can join by scanning instead of typing.
- Screenshot decoding: Decode QR codes from screenshots received in chats or emails when you cannot scan them with a camera.
- Configuration sharing: Encode configuration strings, API endpoints, or connection parameters as QR codes for quick device-to-device transfer.
- Event check-in: Decode ticket QR codes to verify their content without relying on a dedicated scanning app.
